Network Specifications: About The Digital Scene
What Is The Digital Scene?
_The Scene, as we have come to know the term, started on the East Coast of America right around the turn of the millennium. It started with bands like Rites of Spring, Lifetime, Saves the Day and Glass Jaw. The groups of fans that formed around these bands not only supported the music, but supported each other, forming into tight-knit groups that helped each other, formed bands with each other, shared ideas with each other, dated each other.
_Now the original conception of the Scene has gone mainstream, spawning new genres of music, new clothing styles and popularizing many previously underground trends, but the main lesson of the Scene is still relevant: Why not engage with the people who share our interests? That is the question the Scene asked, and that is the question The Digital Scene continues to ask.
_The internet has given us so many incredible opportunities to connect with one another, but outside of lifeless sites like Facebook and Myspace, no one seems to actually be connecting. And so we started The Digital Scene not to whore ourselves out, but to engage with other members of the internet community in a satisfying, stimulating way. When we find people who interest us, we are not content to simply add them as friends. We want to hear their own music, read their own stories, listen to what they have to say about the world. We want a real connection.
Who Are We?
_Simply, we are just like you. We want to meet people with new ideas, even if we don’t agree with those ideas. We want discussion and we want dialog, because most importantly, we want to learn from each other.
_We do not want celebrity. We are not looking to meet our favorite rock stars or writers, we are looking to meet the people who will become our favorite rock stars and writers. We aren’t looking to get onto the A-list, we are looking for the people who aren’t on any lists, the people who haven’t been noticed yet, but deserve to be. We aren’t looking for superficial fame. We want a real connection.
What Are We Looking For?
_Anything and everything. We enjoy good writing and good music. We enjoy new perspectives on the world. We enjoy people who are fresh and real and can make us think.
_If you are a writer, musician or just an interesting person with a good idea, please contribute. Become part of The Digital Scene. Engage with the others who contribute, share ideas, get to know each other. The Scene didn’t start when everyone showed up for the concerts, it started when the fans started talking to one another.
_So please, if you feel like you have something to add to our posts, our discussions or if you have something you think is worth posting or discussing, do not hesitate to contact us.
_Send all submissions to thedigitalscene@yahoo.com with the nature of your submission in the subject line.
_Remember, on the internet, you are as real as you make yourself. So join in, and make yourself real.
